Abstract :
Orientalist by term means a non-oriental scholar who devotes himself to oriental Learning especially to Islam. Orientalism by term means an organized movement operated by Europeans, in general, and especially by the Christians and Jews in particular to study orient, particulary Muslims; their religion, languages, literature, culture and civilization etc. Orientalists study all this, generally, to deduce negative and subjective conclusions, pretending that they are studying objectively. Though, Jew's and Christian's hatred for Islam, the Prophet Mu╒ammad (peace be upon him) and Muslims had been pronounced from very early days of Islam, yet the Crusades made their patrimonial hostility more intense. In the beginning this animosity almost had only the mode of abuse and denunciation, an attitude, generally adopted by the defeated enemy against the successful enemy. But afterward, when Europeans prevailed politically and materialistically, this antagonism became a science. On the name of scientific research the task of flinging mud on Islam and the prophet of Islam was undertaken. These research activities were assisted and abetted by the governments for achieving various religious, political and economic objectives. A number of Muslim scholars and leaders came under the spell of orientalists and began to harp the same tune. Abstract :
Mu╒ammad (peace be upon him), the last Messenger of God is being remembered by the title of “al-Umm┘.” This title has distinguished him from other Messengers, as none of them (whether mentioned in the Qur’┐n or in the pre-Qur’┐nic revelations) was titled as such. Usually, “al-Umm┘” is considered to signify someone who is unlettered or deprived of the capability of reading and writing. With these connotations, the term does not suit to be used for the last Prophet (peace be upon him) or any other preceding prophet anyway. According to the writer, this title was given to Prophet Mu╒ammad (peace be upon him) to describe his unique position and individual status. As unlike other prophets before him, he was born in Umm al-Qur┐ (Makkah) and thus was called “al-Umm┘”, attributed to “the mother of cities”. If al-Umm┘ is taken in the sense of being unlettered, all the prophets would then qualify to be called “al-Ummiyy┴n” due to the fact that they also did not acquire knowledge of revelation from any other source but Allah3) تفسیرمعارف القرآن،ایک مطالعہ

Abstract :
Ma’┐rif al Qur’┐n, reprinted several times, is a well-known Urdu translation and commentary of the Qur’┐n, authored by the renowned scholar of Islam, Mufti Mu╒ammad Shaf┘’ ‘Uthm┐ni (25 January1897–6 October 1976). This work, encyclopedic in nature, has been written in a simple narrative style and carries a strong flavor of explaining fiqh┘ themes mentioned in the Qur’┐n. It has gained much popularity and has earned praise from scholars and students of the Qur’┐nic exegesis alike. Justice Mu╒ammad Taqi Uthm┐ni, son of the author has completed its English translation in 2003. The present article is a brief analysis of some important exegetical opinions mentioned in the Ma’┐rif al Qur’┐n and suggests that a deep critical look towards authentication of a╒┐d┘th mentioned in it will further enhance value of the work4) قواعد فقہ کی تشریعی حیثیت

Abstract :
The scholars of Islamic jurisprudence have chalked out legal maxims for demarcating, defining and understanding of infinite problems, due to which hundreds of commandments will be derived on one hand and on the other hand the legal commandments will become understandable under a proper integrated scheme. These maxims denote the depth and circumference of Islamic jurisprudence and develop the talent of derivation. However there is a controversy that whether commands may be derived from these legal maxims or not? In the given article this issue has been discussed, the summery of which is that the origin of these maxims play basic role in derivation of commands. If these maxims have been extracted from Qur’┐n, Sunnah, Ijm┐’ or from collection of these texts, then derivation is permissible. But if these maxims have been deducted by the scholar of Islamic jurisprudence on their own, then derivation may not be carried out from them in itself. Abstract :
The higher objectives of Islamic Law (maq┐╖id al-Shar┘’ah) based upon entire blessing (as stated in a number of places in the Qur’┐n (such as 21:107 and10:57) play a vital role in construction and reformation of the human society. The experts of Islamic Law have classified the entire range of maq┐╖id-cum- ma╖┐li╒ into three descending categories of importance: the ╔ar┴riyyah (the essential), the ╒┐jiyyah (the complementary) and the ta╒s┘niyyah (the desirable or the embellishments). Abstract :
Human life is full of disputes. It is impossible to locate a single place on the globe free of disagreements. It is the Law and order which protects communities and nations from head on collision. Manmade Laws or misinterpreted revealed Laws, however, have never been solution to the problem. Islamic Law, which is based on the fundamentals of Qur’┐n and Sunnah provides a complete code of conduct to Muslims in all spheres of life. Abstract :
Despite being the youngest language of the Indian sub-continent, Urdu, due to its unlimited potentials, has now become the language of majority, especially in North and South India and in the entire Pakistan, where almost everybody can comprehend it. Muslims, in particular, showed strong association with Urdu. They primarily used it for the promotion of Qur’┐nic message in the society replacing Persian. Bulk of religious literature has emerged in Urdu including, inter alia, translations of Arabic Qur’┐nic terminology and writing of various Qur’┐nic dictionaries, indexations and thematic analyses. The present article (Part-I) aims at providing a brief look into the selective works in this field. The study discusses the International religious Freedom Act (1998), a law of the US Congress that envisages religious freedom and democracy promotion as guarantor of international peace and security. It also highlights the IRFA as a core objective of US foreign policy. The discussion in the scholarship also elaborates the role of Evangelicals – a dominant religious group in the US, in enacting the law and making it an instrument of US foreign policy. Abstract :
Six photographs of a beautifully illustrated manuscript of the Qur’┐n (see plates 1-6 at the end) along with its Persian translation were provided to the present writers by a private collector in Peshawar for an expert opinion. The photographs were thoroughly analyzed and after close examination, various distinctive features of the manuscript were surfaced. This article is a brief attempt to analyze these stylistic and decorative features of the manuscriptVolume No. 3
